Today 25th June is the last day for the 2011 Nagol season. It got off to a slow start due to the Conflict between the Custom Chiefs and the Local people, and changes to the Pricing after Tok Tok show & printing time. But every one who did go had a wonderful time and those traveling with Unity Airlines had the added bonus of seeing the dugong and lunch at Lamen Bay in most cases for the same price.
We hope to see some of you in 2012 However We do expect there to be a Entrance fee rise over this year’s fee. and Av-gas prices just keep going up too. We do hope to have a 14 seat Air craft so may be able to keep our Prices, for the trip the same as this year .

It’s amazing!! I have seen this documentry of 1hr. on Discovery channel. The height of the tower is so high that i cant believe they all will jump from there. But as it’s the tribes tradition, they completed it successfully. Definitely a breath taking jump.

I’ve seen this documentary on Discovery Channel. I would love to travel there sometime and explores nature’s view. Lovely post.

Oh my, I think my heart would stop just watching them do these jumps. I am so very afraid of heights, I would be glad to know, as a woman, I do not have to participate.
Just a side note about the history behind this event. I find it amusing that the mens’ way to commemorate never being deceived by a woman again is to copy her by jumping in the same manner she did. Funny. Imitation, is, indeed, the sincerest form of flattery.
Great narrative detailing this ceremony. I enjoyed reading about the traveler who watched the jumps. What an event to witness.
