"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And when you look long into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you." - Nietzsche

I've been reading a book called War Law, gaining a stronger understanding and appreciation of international law. On both when it's allowed to go to war, and how wars can be fought. I'd recommend the book to anyone, but the point is that ... sadly, inside the United States, a person can easily get the sense that the rest of the world is much like Disney Land ... a far-away and not so real place. This can be seen in the pride some members of Congress have shown in the past not to have passports. More importantly, it can be seen in the amount of respect we (don't) manage to show toward international law.

The torture interrogation policies are not new and they have existed for years. Abu Ghraib was not any different. I think we need to take all this into our stride and move on..

American have been very good at it. Look no further than the hanging of Saddam Hussein. American imprisoned it and handed him over to the Iraqis minutes before the hanging. They have the iraqis who hated Saddam to do the dirty job.
