I never knew such kind of country ever existed .and if its been in the limelight why doesnt U.S do anything about it . I am sure its capable of stopping this .
If its in the news and is providing major arms to leading terrorist groups , the world peace organisation should readily pass this subject as top level threat to mankind .i viol a unified action should be taken to sums there illegal activities . Now i know how ignorant people have become and how they are kept in shadow .

Hearsay and sensationalism, yellow journalism at its worst. These programs are made to titillate jaded TV viewers.

There's lots of info about this place Transnistria. It is an open economy, trades with nearly 100 countries. Both EU and UN says that weapons trade does not take place.

Check out "The Tiraspol Times" for some real facts.

EDITOR: I find your comment laughable, these reputable sources show just how wrong you are:

1. The US State Department says :

The U.S. does not recognize the independence referendum held yesterday in the Transnistrian region of Moldova. We welcome similar statements rejecting the referendum by the European Union, member states, and the Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

As the international community has made clear, Transnistria is a part of Moldova, and yesterday’s efforts by the Transnistrian regime should not be recognized as anything other than an attempt to destabilize Moldova. We encourage all parties to return to the international negotiations on Transnistria by the middle of October.

The United States is a steadfast friend of Moldova and all of its people, including those living in the Transnistrian region of the country.

Moscow’s political, economic, and military support for separatist leaders in both Moldova and Georgia, as well as frequent hosting of meetings of separatist leaders, calls into question Russia’s commitment to its neighbors’ territorial integrity. When Igor Smirnov visits Moscow, as he regularly does, it is not helpful for Russian officials to welcome him with the title "president." It connotes a status that is undeserving.

2. The BBC has this to say about Igor Smirnov and the state of the media:

Igor Smirnov has led Trans-Dniester since its secession

Trans-Dniester's self-proclaimed president was re-elected for a fourth five-year term in December 2006. He says he will remain in office until the territory's independence is recognised internationally. Moldova's foreign ministry described the poll as illegal.
...
The authorities exercise tight control over the media. Media rights groups report that self-censorship is widespread. Printing facilities are state-run.
