Top 100 Australian Blogs
  • My aim is to inform my readers about topics that they won’t read about elsewhere
  • My philosophy is to take the Road Less Travelled and explore niche topics others ignore
  • I aim to write 1 or 2 quality articles/week rather than dozens of useless articles
echoing other people’s statements about stale and unoriginal news items eg: american celebrities, iphones, gossip etc.

I live in Australia so articles will tend to have an Australian emphasis however 1/2 the people who read my blogs are from overseas so there’s obviously plenty of interesting stuff for non-Aussies to read.

Work & Blogging History

After doing outsourced web development/SEO/web standards work for several years I decided to put my skills and broad general knowledge to good use by writing blog articles at the Rambling Thoughts Blog and monetising them through Google Adsense and other internet advertising/sponsorship income streams.

Over time this income grew to the point where it earnt me enough to largely quit doing contract work and become a day job by itself.

In 2007 I launched a 2nd blog called the Road Less Travelled in order to split articles between the 2 blogs by category and leverage the benefits of inter-linking. If you’re interested in the topic read my article How I Earn Lots Of Money By Blogging.

During the last few years many people have emailed me to say they saved a lot of money or learnt some really useful information thanks to my articles … what they don’t realise is that researching and writing blog articles and answering questions posed in blog comments is taking several hours of my time everyday.

Without revenue from sponsors and advertising my websites would have to be shut down. Therefore the more money I make from sponsors and advertising, the more time I can spend researching articles and answering your questions. See how you can Support My Websites

Besides blogging I:

  • Advise not-for-profit and small companies eg: FoodbyWeb and The SHS Foundation on their Internet marketing strategies as well as about anti-virus/spam solutions, VOIP phone services, choosing the right broadband ISP etc,
  • Manage my websites (which get over 1 million pageviews / year, ranking very well in Google and other search engines) and dealing with the comments/correspondence generated by the articles I write.
  • Read and do lots of research to improve my writing skills to be able to write more informative Blog articles and therefore increase my income from Google Adsense and other internet based income streams.
