The story of this domain
From 2007, roadlesstravelled.com.au hosted a personal travel blog with tales and photos from off the beaten track, around Australia and the world. That blog stopped publishing and the domain later lapsed. Road Less Travelled was relaunched in 2026 as an independent Australian travel guide. Every page has been written from scratch. We are not connected with the previous blog or its authors, or with any tour company or business with a similar name.
How we research
We use official and authoritative sources: state road authorities and road reports, national and state park agencies, Traditional Owner and land council information, tourism bodies and emergency services. Each guide lists its sources and the date it was last checked. We do not invent quotes, statistics or prices.
Remote travel safety
Remote travel carries real risks. Our guides are general information, not a substitute for local knowledge and official advice. Always check road conditions, closures, permits and weather before you set out.
How we are funded
Nobody can pay to change our guides. If a page carries ads, affiliate links or a paid listing, it is clearly labelled, and our editorial policy explains how we make money.
